All Indie Publishing is a blog from business writer and professional blogger, Jennifer Mattern. The site is dedicated to truly independent and business-minded authors.

If you want to make money publishing your own books and e-books professionally, learn how to market your publications creatively, and separate yourself from the growing crowd of self-published writers, All Indie Publishing is here to help you do that.

Here are some of the things you can expect us to discuss here at All Indie Publishing:

  • Writing your book
  • Editing your book (and working with professional editors and proofreaders)
  • Book production and design
  • Self publishing news
  • Book marketing and PR
  • E-books / e-publishing
  • Tools and resources for indie publishers
  • Indie author interviews

Along the way you’ll find stories about Jenn’s own adventures in indie publishing as well as insights from her former career as a PR and social media consultant where she specialized in working with creative professionals. Jenn began independently publishing and selling e-books in 2007, targeting the clients of her former PR firm. In late 2010 she finished drafting her first book for indie print publication — The Query-Free Freelancer. While that nonfiction title moves through the editing, proofreading, typesetting, and design processes before its target launch date in 2012, she continues to work on several e-books and drafting a new mystery novel series.

One of the most valuable resources at All Indie Publishing will be the growing collection of interviews and guest posts from people intimately involved in the indie publishing world. These will include indie authors, printing company representatives, book publicists who work with indie authors, book cover designers, and more.

If you fit into any of those groups and you would like to be interviewed here at All Indie Publishing, please visit our contact page to send your details for consideration. But note, I do not interview authors about their own books. You can include a link to your website, blog, or book order page but interviews themselves must be about industry issues (such as past interviews on e-book pricing and the use of beta readers). Interview requests that do not include a topic pitch will be ignored.

Also note that I do not currently interview “independent” publishing companies, nor do I interview authors using vanity or subsidy publishers, including POD services. (POD printing-only is fine — this site focuses on indie authors who work with the best team possible to put out the best books possible, not currently those who pay a POD company to handle the bulk of the editing, design, and publication process for them.) Please provide background on your history as an indie author when you submit your interview request.
